Photography Programs Overview

People enroll into photography schools when they want a career that includes film or digital photography. Career options can include fashion photography art photography, photo journalism, portrait photography, advertising, photo technician or restoration specialist and more. A sample of just a few of the exciting classes that you can take at photography schools include illustration photography, darkroom techniques, fine arts b/w photography, fashion photography, or documentary photography.

Who goes to Photography Schools?

Most of the people who enroll into photography schools have been shooting pictures as a hobby before they arrive. But, this is not true for all people. It is possible to go to a photography school and take a very basic beginning class on how to use a film camera. For people who do not have any experience at all with a film camera, it is wise to speak to your campus advisor before enrolling into classes randomly. Some classes that are marked ‘beginner’ in the title assume that you already know how to load the camera.

The majority of photography schools require that students have a high school diploma or GED certification completed prior to registration. Degrees are offered in photography or fine arts for photography at the AA, BA, and Master Degree levels.
