- Complete the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST). Information, practice

- Obtain fingerprint clearance from the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and
the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The DOJ only accepts LiveScan fingerprint
images from California residents. This requires that you bring three copies of the
LiveScan form and a fee to a LiveScan location. LiveScan From 41-LS and a list of
LiveScan locations is available at the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
(CTC) website, www.ctc.ca.gov.
- Complete the Application for Credential Authorizing Public School Service and submit
to the CTC, along with official transcripts, CBEST scores and an application fee.
