Reiki Practitioner Career Description
Reiki is a form of energy healing discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan in the late 1800s. Reiki, which translates to universal life energy, focuses on balancing the energy system of the body through energy transference and the use of Reiki symbols. Reiki can be performed hands-on in in-person sessions or through distance sessions that can occur with the practitioner and the client thousands of miles apart. By channeling and delivering universal life energy to the client, practitioners remove blockages from the energy system and bring the energy system into balance to improve the health and wellness of the client.
Currently, there are no state or federal laws governing the practice of Reiki. Practitioners who plan to go into private practice will need to confirm local business licensing laws in their state and local jurisdiction. Practitioners will also need to look into their state and local laws to determine if they need to provide disclosures to clients and to see if there are general laws regulating alternative healing arts.
Reiki is growing in popularity as increasing numbers of people turn to alternative healing methods to achieve their health and wellness goals.
