What do you have to do to become a massage therapist in your state?

Online colleges offering Massage Schools programs

Most states enforce statewide regulations and licensing requirements for massage therapy practitioners. In the states that do not provide for statewide regulation, cities and counties put forth requirements that must be met in order to practice in that jurisdiction. Prospective massage therapists will need to contact their state or local regulatory agency to confirm requirements; however, as a general guide, most states and local jurisdictions require at least 500 hours of massage training and education at an approved school and a licensing or certification examination.

Massage practitioners often work in private practice and enjoy the freedom of setting their own work schedules, while providing a much needed service that improves their clients’ quality of life and overall health and wellness.
