Missouri Family Nurse Practioner Programs Overview

Family NP

A Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) provides direct patient services, case management, diagnosis and treatment, and general health and wellness services to patients across the age spectrum. Family nurse practitioners work in hospitals, private practice, community clinics, nursing homes and other hospital and clinical settings.

As a highly skilled, well-educated advanced practice nurse, an FNP completes graduate-level nursing science training and must pass an examination administered by the American Nurses Credentialing Association to become a board certified family nurse practitioner. Most master-level family NP degree programs require applicants to have current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and some period of experience as a nurse, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); however, some programs allow students to enter their course of study prior to obtaining their RN license.

Registered nurses who choose to advance their career and increase their earning potential by furthering their education to become a nurse practitioner will enter this rewarding career knowing that the demand for qualified nurse practitioners will only continue to grow.

Browse through the comprehensive list of colleges below to find the family NP degree program that best suits your needs and will assist you in furthering your education, and your career.
