If you are currently enrolled in a New Hampshire teaching credential program, or
are considering becoming certified as a teacher in New Hampshire, you may want to
consider becoming a substitute teacher. This will allow you to experience the classroom
and determine if this is the right career for you, while learning practical teaching
skills and networking with other educators.
Substitute teachers who do not currently have a New Hampshire teaching certificate
are allowed to work up to 20 consecutive days per substitute teaching assignment.
Once you have obtained your New Hampshire teaching certificate, you will no longer
be limited in the number of days you can substitute teach and will be able to gain
valuable experience building student-teacher relationships and working with longer-term
lesson plans as you seek a permanent, full-time teaching position.
