Alternative Certifications

  2. New Hampshire also offers a program for those holding a BA degree to become employed with a school district through a site-based plan certification that will put educational requirements that must be finished into a contract for completion by a specific date.

New Hampshire school districts do their own hiring, and it is not done by the State Department of Education as in some other locations. Teacher license renewal plans are also under the direction of individual school districts so that each teacher is judged by a group of their peers to determine license renewal. All teachers in New Hampshire are expected to participate in ongoing education as a part of their renewal process which can include college credit classes, personal development hours, seminars, or appropriate independent study readings.
