All Nurse Practioner Programs Programs Overview

All Nurse Practitioner programs

A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who has either a master’s or doctorate degree in nursing education. How do I become a nurse practitioner? The first step is to become licensed as a register nurse; this requires either an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in nursing. You will also need to complete a direct patient care program; this takes two to four years to complete. Each state has different laws regarding nurse practitioner requirements but all require at least a master’s degree to gain certification as a nurse practitioner.

What are the requirements to be a nurse practitioner? You must have a current professional nursing license in the state that you work in and meet the education requirements. Most nurse practitioners have a particular specialty some of these specialties include the following: family health, women’s health, psychiatry, pediatrics, oncology, neonatology, obstetrics, and gynecology.
