How to Become a Nurse Anesthesiologist (NA)

A CRNA is an advanced practice nurse who has completed a graduate degree program in nurse anesthesia, which generally take two to three years to complete and confers a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree with a specialization in Nurse Anesthesia, and passed a national certification examination. To qualify for acceptance in a nurse anesthetic program, prospective students need to be currently licensed as a registered nurse and hold a bachelor’s degree. Most programs also require a period of experience working as a nurse in an acute care setting.
