South Carolina Second Degree BSN Programs Overview

Second Degree BSN

Second Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree programs are specifically designed for students who have completed a bachelor-level degree in a field other than nursing and now wish to pursue a nursing career. Many credits from your first bachelor-level degree will transfer over, allowing for completion of a Second Degree BSN in as little as 18 months.

Second Degree BSN programs prepare students to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing and to become Registered Nurses (RNs). Upon successful completion of the nursing degree program and the exam, students will be able to enter the growing field of nursing as registered nurses and begin to work with physicians and other health care providers to provide care and services directly to patients.

The field of nursing is expanding rapidly and new registered nurses will have plentiful employment opportunities in home health care, hospice care, nursing homes, community clinics, hospitals and other heath care settings.
