The expanded Mental Health Counseling option prepares students for increasing career opportunities in professional therapy. It includes enhanced clinical coursework and increased internship requirements. Graduates of this option gain a strong foundation in counseling, clinical assessment, and treatment topics. They also benefit from a recommended supervised experience of 500 contact hours in preparation for application to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services for Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (PLMHP) status and/or PLADC.
