This program consists of 27 hours of integrated library and media courses leading to graduate certification in school library media services or certification for public librarian IV. This online program offers students a professional program of study. Most of the course requirements pertain to projects related to course-specific proficiencies. A research paper (or other graduate-level assignment) is required in addition to the proficiency. Indiana State University's certification program in library media services meets all qualifications required by the Division of Professional Standards and is accredited by the NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education). Graduates are eligible for certification for both school and public library IV. Certification/licensure as a teacher is required in Indiana for a school library media specialist. However, this is not a public library requirement.
