Upon completion of Level 1 students are able to choose from 8 key essential oils to use in practice or for self. Topics include: Aromatherapy History, Clinical Research of essential oil use in Europe and US, Aromatherapy Physiology (absorption, the limbic system), Interaction of essential oils on physical and emotional levels, Production and Quality of essential oils, Basic Chemistry of essential oils, Contraindications, Methods of Application, and Purchasing and Storage. The eight oils studied are Lavender, Tea Tree, Geranium Rose, Peppermint, Rosemary, Sweet Orange, Grapefruit, and Eucalyptus, along with their profiles consisting of Latin terms, plant, physiological use, emotional use, energetic use, and contraindication. The course also covers the basic art of blending essential oils and the Aromatherapy consultation process. Students will create their own blends for practical application in class.
