Online Degrees - National Holistic Institute

This course is based on the teachings of Thai Foot Massage according to the pattern taught at the Wat Po School of Traditional Thai Massage in Bangkok, Thailand. This massage originates from a 3000-year-old Chinese tradition and is said to stimulate the activity of the inner organs. Basic theory, including indications and contraindications, is initially covered in the class (the reflex zone theory is covered briefly) and emphasis is put on the practical implementation of Thai Foot Massage. The massage starts with a foot bath, and is further performed with fingers and hands as well as with a wooden stick dipped in lotion and oil. Thai Foot Massage consists of massage strokes and pressure point work. Massage is performed on the feet and along the Sen energy lines on the lower legs. Accurate working technique is emphasized to maintain authenticity. By the end of the course, students are able to relate to the background of Thai Foot Massage, apply a foot massage in accordance with the pattern taught, use the massage stick safely, demonstrate the run of the Sen lines in the lower legs, and discuss the importance of working with sensitivity and good technique.
