The Certificate in Assistive Technology program of study is designed to give the student an in-depth skill level and practical competencies in delivering assistive technology services to persons with disabilities. The certificate content is based on nationally recognized competency statements of various professional organizations (American Speech and Hearing Association, RESNA). The graduates of the program will be prepared to take national credentialing exams should they choose to do so. This certificate program addresses the needs for comprehensive training efforts with the option for developing specific technology specialization, an area currently lacking in our state. The program of study supports existing training efforts at both the awareness and advanced knowledge levels for completing a comprehensive, integrated assistive technology training model for Arizona's service providers. Students completing this program of studies may look at working with the Arizona Department of Education/Districts or LEAs, Department of Economic Security/Division of Developmental Disabilities and the Rehabilitation Services Administration.
