Enrollment in this career program provides students with keyboarding skills, data entry skills, and detailed knowledge of the Microsoft Word 2003 word processing software application. No previous knowledge of data processing is necessary. The objective of the Microcomputer Word Processing career program is to train students to secure responsible entry-level positions in the field of Business Data Processing, working as word processors and data entry operators. A word processor's main responsibility is the input, storage, manipulation, and processing of data as needed in the preparation of letters and reports. This requires knowledge of display station terminals and related software. A data entry operator is responsible for entering and maintaining various business information that is stored in the computer. This requires operations knowledge of a display station terminal and adequate typing skills.
