The terms legal assistant and paralegal are used interchangeably. The job involves legal research, preparation of legal documents, and, in some cases, interviewing clients. It also includes summarizing depositions, interrogatories, and testimony. A paralegal generally works under the direction of an attorney or, in a large firm, under a paralegal manager.
