Comprehensive emergency and disaster management is a complex field that requires expertise in multiple areas. Most emergency professionals are trained in the procedures for successfully managing the typical emergencies within their own professions, such as fires, earthquake, flooding, hurricanes, and radiation or highway accidents. However, preparation for responding to multi-faceted emergencies, such as the World Trade Center attack, is often limited. Responding to the emerging demand, TUI has developed a state of the art program in emergency response and disaster management. The Certificate in Emergency and Disaster Management program requires completion of sixteen semester credits. These four four-unit classes may be completed in six months if the student completes two classes in each of two twelve-week sessions.
