The Certificate Program in Environmental Health Sciences is offered for those persons working in the field of environmental health who need to develop their formal education in specific elements of the field of environmental health. Environmental Health consists of those organized activities undertaken to protect and enhance the public's health through the recognition, assessment and control of environmental hazards with focus on biological, chemical and physical hazards. The two major aspects in an environmental health program are the prevention of disease and the protection and promotion of human well being. Students must hold a baccalaureate degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
