Online Bachelor Degree in Labor Relations

At one time much of the United State’s blue collar workforce was unionized and the person holding a bachelor degree in labor relations worked almost exclusively as a mediator and negotiator between companies and union workers. Today with fewer active unions the labor relations professional will often be dealing with non union workers as well. The main function of a labor relation specialist whether dealing with union or non union workers is the smooth negotiation between the company and the workers and prevention of lawsuits or even strikes. This is a career choice that requires the use of many disciplines to function well, including psychology, sociology, business management and economics.

Online Labor Relations Bachelor Degree

An online labor relations bachelor degree takes on average about 4 years. Transfer credits, accelerated programs and a heavier course load per semester can shorten the length of time it takes to earn the bachelor degree significantly.
Most bachelor degree programs will consist of three main portions:

  • Electives where a student may choose any course they are interested in and often choose an course that allows them to explore new disciplines,
  • The liberal arts requirements and basic education requirements that are usually comprised of a set number of math, English composition, literature, history and fine arts semester hours.
  • The Major courses that are in the field the student has chosen to pursue.

The total amount of semester hours required for graduation with an online labor relations degree is from 120 to 150 semester credit hours.
