Online Bachelor Degree in Nursing

An online Bachelor degree in nursing may enable individuals to qualify for various careers in the nursing field. Registered nurses (RN) commonly hold a Bachelor degree in nursing. An online Bachelor degree in nursing may provide a licensed practical nurse, licensed vocational nurse, nurse assistant, or other related entry level position with the credential, education, and training that they need to advance in order to attain a position as a registered nurse. Registered nurses with this degree may choose to specialize in a particular area of health care (i.e. geriatric nurse) or continue their education in order to advance in their careers to supervisory, management, or administration positions. Registered nurses who continue their education and achieve a degree in nursing education may choose to become a nurse educator and train new nurses in health care facilities.

Online Nursing Bachelor Degree

Common careers for individuals who achieve an online nursing Bachelor degree may include registered nurse, specialized nurse, or other related position. The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects the number of nursing jobs to grow by 23% by 2016, which is much faster than the average for all occupations. As the elderly population grows with the aging of the baby boomers, the demand for health care services and workers will increase.

Coursework in programs for an online nursing Bachelor degree may vary depending on the institution. However, some common courses to expect include information on anatomy and physiology, chemistry, nutrition, biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, adult and family care, statistics, health assessment, pathophysiology, concepts of disease process, and others.
